Bees and Bozley

While this little creature gives us good things like Honey and pollinates our plants so we have veggies, fruit and flowers...they are a menace in our home! Bozley being the curious little guy that he is like to pick things up in his mouth...he has a strange love of worms, crickets, rocks, twigs and bees. There is a tree somewhere in our neighborhood that has a hive and it seems that the bees come to our patio to die a peaceful death. Everytime we go out , there are number of dead or dying bees on our patio. I do my best to get them all taken care before Bozley can get ahold of them.... much to our dismay he has gotten ahold of a few of them and has been stung about 3 times (you think he would learn) The first sting (October 13) was on his paw and it wasnt so bad...we removed the stinger and he went on his merry way....no harm no foul. The second (October 19) time however was not so uneventful. He picked the bee up in his mouth and it stung him in the gums. We could not find the stinger and didnt know it was still there...he became very weak and threw up. I called the emergency vet to find out what to do (I only called the E-Vet because our dog had to do this after hours...thus costing us more) TheE-Vet said to bring him he was going into shock. Our little boy is allergic to bees it seems and needed to get a shot of epinephrine to calm his little heart down, he also got a 50mg shot of Benadryl (thats enough to knock me out for 2 days) and a shot of steroids....oh he also had to have an IV of fluids! Not a fun night...waking up every hour to check on him. He got better over the next couple of days and was his normal puppy self. The third sting happened yesterday October 27, he again was in the backyard. I had killed all the bees but must have left a trace of one and he licked it up ...getting stung on his tongue (we do not have the brightest dog in the bunch) I rushed him to his vet...they took a look at him, removed the stinger, gave him two more shots and sent him on his way!

So I now have a love/hate relationship with bees....They can come pollinate our plants..but please stay off of my patio and away from my dog....this is getting to be way to expensive! Oh well...the things we do for our furry little children!

Star Wars in Concert.....

A few weeks ago we went to Star Wars in Concert! It was such a fun show.....the orchestra played all the music, while the screen showed shorts of the films. Made me realize that I havent watched those films in a million years. What really made the night fun was that we got to hang out with our good friends EG and Anna. Anna is perhaps the biggest Star Wars fan I have ever met....her husband is a close second....lets just say that if they could they would probably have a room dedicated to all the Star Wars stuff they have! It was fun to watch them...like kids in a candy shop!

Anna was super excitted to get her new C3PO shirt !

The force is strong with this one....Anna has a slight love of Yoda!The famed Princess hat that her Sister in law made for herget em!oh no not the light saber!!!the show was so AMAZING..all the lights and special effectsand probably the highlight for all...especially Anna as she loves this man....Anthony Daniels who was C3PO was the MC for the evening.....he even did the voice! So Fun!

Hawaii here we come...really its Kauai

We are so close to our long awaited Hawaiian Vacation..it too needed a countdown ticker!

Jake....coming home soon!

Our nephew Jacob is a congressional page in Washington DC right now...he has been gone since the end of August and we miss him terribly. Luckily we have Skype and we talk on the phone with him about once a week...but its not the same as having him here! The good news is, he is coming home for Thanksgiving (unless there is an emergency session of congress) and will be home for about a week! so in honor of Jake's return....I have added a handy little countdown ticker!

time for an update

Wow! I have been behind lately!!!! Maybe tomorrow I can find the time to post some pictures of recent events...but for now this will have to do!

Month of September
- Amy and Andy came for a visit for Amy's birthday...we went to Disneyland!
- Bozley went to the Emergency Vet only to be told that he had a UTI and was put on antibiotics
- UTI was more than likely caused by the large pile of snad we had in the backyard that Boz thought was his personal playground
- ALL of the pavers are laid down and ready to be tampered into place
- Bought a house in Arizona
- Yes...you read that correctly....bought a house in Arizona...what a bargin on $88,000.00
- Did some photo work
- Learned a TON in my Graphic Design classes

Nothing really exciting happened here....just the same old day to day stuff that usually goes on!
Maybe October will be more exciting! We are hosting the annual Halloween Party this year...we are also hosting a Chocolate Party and we are participating in the Alzheimer's Memory Walk!
